Since the beginning of 2008, I started to use svk. It’s great even when I’m writing some code at offline starbucks.
But there is one thing I want to change to be better.
I want to open tickets of Trac on Eclipse whenever I’m offline.
It’s ok while I’m using Emacs, but I hope Eclipse + Mylyn can do it. It helps me more productive.
Some of articles said it’s of course able to do it. Really? I still can’t. Yes I can edit opened tickets and save it on my local machine but can’t open new one.
OK. Return to the starting line, I’ll watch a webinar of Mylyn and then read an official document. Maybe I’ll do it next week because it’s too busy weekend now.
6. Microsoft focuses on hardwares dept and OS dept – Yahoo! will be a separated dept though Microsoft send in executives. Microsoft’s core business divisions keep fine.
7. Lot’s of startups get out from Yahoo! – And some of it will become successful.
8. Yahoo! falls off – Then Jerry Yang may act like Steve Jobs, or Yahoo! Japan’s Masayoshi Son may do something.
9. Microsoft sells Yahoo! then acquires Sony – To focuses on hardware dept and OS dept more. Vaio & Walkman + Windows VS Apple, PS + X Box VS Nintendo.
This is my own feedback. Jan 21st (Mon) to 27th (Sun).

Problems
1. Less actual working time at week days – Seems it was good result, but there’re 4 days less than 12hours.
2. Lack awareness of priorities – Couldn’t write some code enought. Had to research new technology these days.
Solutions
1. Reduce moving time to 80% – iPod + Podcast and W-zero3[es] + Fastladder can meke it 0%. Keep it and do it more.
2. Write some code first – Rush tasks made me apart from writing some code. Re build my working flow to write some code first.
Good points
1. Meaningful chatting – We chatted about the history of the world and politics each other with my friend in India working as an engineer, was great time for both of us. And had a delightful chat with my frined in Rome.
2. Got some new ideas – Can’t write down here but yes I got it when I had a meeting with my old friend who is one of the great programmer I ever known. His project seems great and worth to do it. I don’t know what can I do for it but I’ll try to stand by him as a marketing guy. Hope we can do something in the end of February.
Conclusion
Shut the fuck up and write some code. – That’s all for me 😛
A happy new year, folks. Let me post my own new year’s resolutions of 2008.
New year’s resolutions
1. Post 1 entry per week – Too modestly? Hope I’ll blog every day.
Last year, I wrote down tons of drafts. Yes it was just drafts. Speed matters more than quality. Just do it like twitter posts.
And keep blogging in both English and Japanese at a time like Danny Choo san.
2. Release our services each 3 months – Researching about some technologies and managing business tasks were the most part of our work last year. In 2008, we’ll be more offensive.
Not only that, I’ll open anything I can do to get feedbacks and learn from outside.
3. Update messa.tv twice a week – Wanna pick up hottest topics.
4. Coding 6 hours every day – Fist of all, I have to write code much time.
In 2007, I had set 12 hours as actual worked hours, and almost done. Next step for me is to manage what I do while 12 hours.
It’s too easy to coding 6 hours. However I want, I can’t write code all the time. Get things done to write more code.
5. 5min review per task – I’m tracking by 15minutes, what I did and how long I spent time to do it. So I can check my power balance anytime. In addition, do more powerful 5min review in 2008.
Time tracking sheet.
6. 30min focusing time every morning – Very important time. Do it more. On my desktop, some of stickers trying to remind me what I need to keep in my mind.
My desktop stickers.
7. Chatting online once a week – Chatting with someone I’ve never known is an exciting experience for me.
Yes I’m already doing it, but I wanna do it more as a habit. Plus, wanna voice chatting more, and teach Japanese to someone who are interested in Japan.
8. Get to know 1 person every month – Online or offline, I’m looking forward to see someone who lives in another couontry, can communicate each other in English, working as an engineer.
Though I’ll get out here to see much more people.
9. Join some events each 3 months – Where engineers are. Tokyo, Osaka, San Francisco.
10. 7:3 = English:Japanese – Figures mean percentage of my language environment. To see, hear, use English more.
11. Read 2 books per week – Now I’m little bit addicted to using a library. Visit more to learn from paper media.
12. Feed reading less than 90min – As I’m writing this, there’re 310 feeds I’m reading. Not too much I think but I had read it too carefully. Some time it takes 8 hours more. Time is money. Read it faster.
Now, I successfully switched Bloglines to Fastladder (Livedoor Reader). Fastladder’s fastest UI works well for me. Increase feeds to 1000 and keep 90min rule.
13. Public reivew on my Blog monthly – This is not a goal, just a start. Feedback is always important. I’ll post an entry about my process to the goals every month.
I don’t forget and don’t afraid to re-build my resolutions.
14. Appear on Diggnation more than 2sec – Seemed 14 is better than 13. 😛
Firefox is going to down sometime when I open lot’s of tabs. And then I lose the session because too much tabs is the reason why Firefox can’t be stable.
But yes I don’t have to give up to get back last session. There is some file with a list of URLs.
I always salvage URLs by some short scripts, but it happens many times. So, I released a tiny web application to get it back.
How to use is really easy.
Find your session.rdf
Send it from the form
That’s it. Your session.rdf will send to a server once, but it’ll removed after get URLs.
Only date and amount of URLs are kept in the server.
Why I do like that? Because I wanna research how many tabs make your Firefox unstable. In my last case, 211 tabs.
Please take full responsibility for your actions when you use this. I hope you like it. Get Back Session
Location of the session.rdf is here. Firefox Help: How To Manage Profiles
I didn’t research well, but you can use this if you use “Tab Mix Plus” to manage session. Perhaps you can use, if there is “session.rdf” in your nice machine.
Yes I goofed off, sorry 😛
This one is almost only for myself. If you find something wrong about this, please notice me.
Enjoy!
Gates barely gets started explaining precisely how smart he is before a panhandler taps on the window of Dick’s Drive-In Restaurant, the Seattle burger joint where Gates has just ordered a $1.70 “deluxe.” Can Gates spare some change? Nah. $36 billion, maybe, but not some change.
Many kind of opinions everyone may have, but I think it’s not too bad. That’s why he is a billionaire.
